Mini-Course: Preparing for School-Entry

3 - Working with the School

At the end of the meeting

If possible, introduce your child to the teacher. Both the teacher and your child may benefit from this initial interaction. The teacher may benefit from exposure to your child's personality and listening and speaking skills, and the meeting may prevent or reduce your child's anxiety about starting school.

To conclude, ask the teacher if you can arrive 20 minutes early on the first day of class to complete the sound check and find the optimal seat in the classroom for your child. Remind the teacher you are available for questions and more information, and thank him or her for working with you to support your child.
