  • The transmitter/headpiece sends the electronic signals through the skin to the internal receiver. The transmitter, sometimes called the coil or the headpiece, is held in place on the exterior of the skull behind the ear via a magnet that is coupled to a magnet on the internal receiver.
  • Batteries power the speech processor and microphone.
