Mini-Course: Preparing for School-Entry

3 - Working as Part of a Team

Formal teams

United States law requires that public schools must provide free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment to all individuals between the ages of 3 and 21 years, regardless of disability level.

Formal teams are often created as part of the IEP or Section 504 process in which specific people are named to contribute to the development and execution of the accommodations.

The teams will often include parents, education professionals, such as teachers and school administrators, and professionals who work in fields related to hearing loss, like an itinerant teacher for the deaf, speech-language pathologist, or audiologist.
