8 - Social Integration of a Child with a Cochlear Implant

Encourage peer acceptance

Young children are typically curious and accepting, which are characteristics that you can use to maximize the social acceptance of the child with a cochlear implant.

Your students may be curious and have questions about their classmate with a cochlear implant, such as:
  • Why does he wear that thing on his head?
  • What does it do?
  • Why does she always get to sit next to the teacher?
  • Why doesn't she always answer when I call her name?
