This mini-course describes what a cochlear implant is and how it is used. It includes the following information sheets:
- Information Sheet: Conducting a sound test - which explains how to ensure the cochlear implant is working each day
- Information Sheet: Troubleshooting a nonfunctional cochlear implant - which explains simple troubleshooting techniques you should know if the cochlear implant stops working while the child is at school
This mini-course describes how to come together as a team with the parents and other professionals to support the child with a cochlear implant.
Mini-course 4: Teaching a child with a cochlear implant
This mini-course describes teaching, classroom management, and listening support strategies to support a child with a cochlear implant in your classroom. It includes the following information sheets:
- Information Sheet: FM systems - which describes the differences between sound field and personal FM systems and how each works to help a child with a cochlear implant hear more clearly
- Information Sheet: Working with an interpreter - which explains what you should expect if the child with the cochlear implant in your classroom needs an interpreter
