Mini-Course: After School-Entry

6 - Review Your Child's Progress

Recommending changes to improve classroom acoustics

Some changes to the classroom will be easier to implement than others. For simple changes, such as closing doors and windows or removing bubbling fish tanks, speak with the classroom teacher and explain how these changes will improve your child's ability to hear in class.

For more complex changes, like asking for carpet installation or changing the fan speed on the air conditioner, you may need to garner the support of the school's principal.

If the teacher or principal are hesitant to make suggested changes, speak with your child's IEP or Section 504 team to see if certain classroom accommodations can be added to your child's plan.
