Information to discuss with your child's teacher

When you meet with your child's teacher, be sure to discuss your child's developmental history.
  • Complete the information sheet entitled My Child's Strengths and Challenges and give the teacher a copy. This will provide the teacher insight into your child's unique skills and abilities as well as prepare the teacher for challenges that might arise.
If applicable, explain your child's previous educational experiences.
  • Provide the following information:
    • Name of the school/educational program
    • Is it a school/program for the deaf or hard of hearing?
    • How many months or years did your child attend?
    • How old was your child when he/she attended?
    • What did your child gain most from this experience?
    • Were there any specific teaching strategies that helped your child?
